The stents prop open clogged arteries and emit an anti-inflammatory drug called Biolimus A9 that keeps the blood vessel from re-closing once the procedure is done. Unlike other stent systems, the XTENT products allow doctors to customize the length and diameter of the stent during the course of the procedure, giving them the ability to treat multiple diseased areas with a single stent.
