Westpac Banking Company Description

Westpac Banking keeps its pact to serve customers in Australia, New Zealand, and the neighboring Pacific islands. Its transforming deal to buy St.George Bank in 2008 catapulted Westpac from fourth to second among Australia's leading banks and it now has its sights set on becoming the largest financial services firm in the country. Westpac serves some 10 million customers through more than 1,200 branches. It offers consumer and business banking, investment services through its BT Financial Group, and corporate financial services through Westpac Institutional Bank. Its Westpac New Zealand arm reaches 1.2 million Kiwis. Westpac Banking was founded in 1817 as the Bank of New South Wales.
