A unit of NBC Universal's NBC Universal Cable, the USA Network is one of basic cable's top-rated channels, reaching about 95 million US households. It offers a mix of general-entertainment programming that includes syndicated series (House, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, NCIS), movies, and original programming (Burn Notice, In Plain Sight, Monk). USA also shows such sporting events as PGA TOUR golf tournaments. Launched as the Madison Square Garden Network in 1997, the channel joined the NBC family in 2004.
