Flagship institution the University of Houston was founded in 1927 and offers about 300 bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs. Also under the system's umbrella are the University of Houston-Clear Lake, the University of Houston-Downtown, the University of Houston-Victoria, and learning centers in Cinco Ranch and Sugar Land, Texas. The system was established in 1977.
