Ultrapetrol Company Description
Ultrapetrol's boats float in both fresh and salt water. The company's 560-plus barges and carry dry and liquid bulk cargo on the Paraguay and Parana rivers in Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay. On the high seas, Ultrapetrol operates about 10 vessels, including tankers as well as oil-bulk-ore (OBO) vessels. The company's platform supply vessels serve offshore oil installations in the North Sea and along the Brazilian coast. Ultrapetrol also owns a cruise ship that it charters to tour operators. Voting control of the company is held jointly by members of the Menendez family, including CEO Felipe Menendez and EVP Ricardo Menendez, and a unit of the AIG-GE Capital Latin American Infrastructure Fund.
