Talecris Biotherapeutics Holdings taps into the healing power of proteins. A subsidiary of Talecris Holdings, the biopharmaceutical company specializes in developing protein therapy products (derived from blood plasma) used to treat conditions such as immune deficiency disorders, severe burns, and hemophilia. The plasma proteins help control bleeding and body function, as well as combat infection. Its lead drug, Gamunex IGIV, helps in the treatment of immune deficiency conditions and leukemia, as well as in bone marrow transplant recovery. Talecris Biotherapeutics, which has about 50 plasma collection centers, operates worldwide from offices in North America and Germany. It agreed to be acquired by CSL in 2008.
