Sterling Mets LP Company Description

This team from Queens has twice been crowned king of baseball. Sterling Mets owns and operates the New York Mets baseball franchise, which joined Major League Baseball in the expansion of 1962. After losing a record 120 games in its first season, the team earned the nickname "the Miracle Mets" when it toppled the Baltimore Orioles for the club's first World Series title in 1969. A second championship came in 1986 over the Boston Red Sox. The Mets faced the New York Yankees in the 2000 "Subway Series" but lost to their cross-town rivals. CEO Fred Wilpon bought control of the Mets from partner Nelson Doubleday in 2002.
