Sasol Company Description
Sasol makes all manner of petrochemicals, liquid and gaseous fuels (gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, fuel alcohol, and fuel oils), and lubricants. The company, which generates about half its sales in South Africa, also converts coal into synthetic fuels. Petroleum is used as a feedstock in some of Sasol's chemical products, which include polymers and solvents. To create feedstock for its synthetic fuels and chemicals plants, Sasol operates coal mines in South Africa. The company has chemical manufacturing and marketing operations in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. Its Sasol Petroleum International unit explores for and produces oil and gas in western and southern Africa.
