Roadrunner Records Company Description
The music from this label seems to be going a thousand miles an hour. Roadrunner Records is one of the top heavy metal imprints in the US, sporting such talent as Nickelback, Slipknot, and Type O Negative. The label was founded by chairman Cees Wessels in Amsterdam in 1981 in order to license US hard-rock music for European release. Roadrunner has operations in about a dozen countries around the world. In 2007 Warner Music Group purchased a 74% stake in parent company Roadrunner Music Group B.V. for about $74 million.
