The real estate investment trust (REIT) was launched in 2005 to invest in commercial and residential real estate-related securities, and to a lesser extent, commercial finance assets such as syndicated bank loans and equipment leases. Residential mortgage-backed securities account for about half of the REIT's portfolio, although the company intends to continue to diversify its holdings. The company's investments are managed by Resource Capital Manager, a subsidiary of Resource America.
