Renco Company Description
Renco Group is a holding company for a diverse bunch of businesses. Its AM General subsidiary (a joint venture with Ronald Perelman's MacAndrews & Forbes Holding) makes the HUMVEE, an extra-wide, all-terrain vehicle used by the military, and the HUMMER, the HUMVEE's civilian counterpart. Renco Steel and Baron Drawn Steel manufacture, fabricate, and distribute steel. Other Renco Group companies include Doe Run, the world's #2 lead smelter; Unarco Material Handling, which makes racks and systems for warehouses; and US Magnesium. The company is owned by industrialist Ira Rennert.
