It is also in the process of developing additional solar technologies and the commercialization of those products, raising each unit's energy production capability more than 50% over conventional cells. The company claims to be the world's largest independent manufacturer of solar cells; leading competitors such as Kyocera, Mitsubishi Electric, and Sharp have multiple lines of business in addition to solar cells. Q-Cells gets about three-quarters of its sales in Europe.
