Pain Therapeutics Company Description
Pain Therapeutics is providing opiates for the masses. The development-stage company is working on abuse-resistant painkillers, including Remoxy, a version of the frequently abused Oxycontin. Pain Therapeutics is developing Remoxy and another painkiller dubbed PTI-202 in partnership with King Pharmaceuticals, which owns all of the commercialization rights to the drugs. On its own, Pain Therapeutics has been developing another opioid painkiller called Oxytrex but announced in 2008 that it expects to end the study due to difficulty in enrolling patients. Because many of its drug candidates already contain FDA-approved components, the firm hopes for a faster approval process on its lead candidates.
