OccuLogix Company Description

The company vision at OccuLogix is to keep eyes good and healthy, but the firm has struggled to find its eye care niche. OccuLogix had been developing a device (called the RHEO System) intended to treat dry age-related macular degeneration, a common form of blindness in older adults. But following some clinical and financial setbacks, OccuLogix announced an indefinite hold on further development. It also sold its Solx subsidiary, which was developing glaucoma treatments. The company's remaining operation is its majority-owned subisidary OcuSense, a diagnostics company working on a tear collection and analysis system for use at the point of care; OccuLogix has agreed to acquire OcuSense's remaining stock.
