Oakland Athletics Company Description
The Athletics Investment Group makes sure Oakland gets all A's. A team of extremes (it has won 15 American League pennants and finished dead last 26 times), the Athletics, or A's as it's are better known, have resided in three cities: Philadelphia (1901-54), Kansas City (1955-67), and Oakland (1968-present). Nine of its pennants have turned into World Series championships, the last in 1989. A young A's team with one of the lowest payrolls in baseball made the playoffs each year from 2000 to 2003. Los Angeles real estate developer Lewis Wolff (co-founder of Maritz, Wolff & Co.) paid $180 million for the team in 2005.
