Nanosphere Company Description
Nanosphere is offering molecular diagnostics for the masses: Its molecular testing system is intended for the bulk of US hospitals that don't have the money or expertise to maintain the complex genomic testing equipment often reserved for reference labs and research centers. Known as Verigene, the company's diagnostic system is a more compact and simpler workstation that is designed to perform multiple genomic and protein tests simultaneously on a single sample. The Verigene System, along with two hematology diagnostic assays, received FDA approval in 2007. Nanosphere also has several other tests, including ones for cystic fibrosis, HPV (the virus that causes cervical cancer), and herpes simplex, in the works.
