Medifast is helping people slim down and shape up. The company develops, manufactures, and markets health and diet products under its Medifast brand name. The products, which are manufactured by Medifast subsidiary Jason Pharmaceuticals, include food and beverages (meal replacement shakes, bars), as well as disease management products for diabetics. Medifast sells its wares direct to consumers online and through doctor's offices. Its Take Shape for Life subsidiary distributes the products through a direct marketing and sales network of independent distributors (often people who have had success with Medifast) whom the company calls Health Coaches.
