Hess Corporation (formerly Amerada Hess) has what it takes. The integrated oil and gas company conducts exploration and production primarily in Algeria, Australia, Azerbaijan, Brazil, Denmark, Egypt, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Indonesia, Libya, Malaysia, Norway, Peru, Russia, Thailand, the UK, and the US. In 2008 Hess reported proved reserves totaling more than 1.4 billion barrels of oil equivalent. It operates a 50%-owned refinery (HOVENSA) in the US Virgin Islands and a smaller one in New Jersey, and it markets gasoline through about 1,370 HESS gas stations, chiefly in the eastern US. It also provides power to customers in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
