FPL Group Company Description
For a Florida company without any oranges, FPL Group produces a lot of juice. It has operations across the US, including independent power production and telecommunications businesses, but most of its revenues are produced by its utility subsidiary, Florida Power & Light (FPL). FPL distributes electricity to 4.5 million customers and has more than 25,100 MW of generating capacity from interests in nuclear and fossil-fueled power plants. Subsidiary FPL Group Capital owns nonutility businesses, including FPL Energy, an independent power producer and wholesale energy marketer. In 2007 the company acquired the Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Two Rivers from Wisconsin Energy for $924 million.
