You can take it for granted that William Grant & Sons is a top maker of top-shelf Scotch. The Scottish distiller produces single-malt Scotch whiskeys under brands such as Grant's, Glenfiddich, and Balvenie. William Grant & Sons was founded in 1886 by William Grant; today it is owned and overseen by the Gordon family, a fifth generation of Grant's heirs. Glenfiddich Scotch is one of the world's top-selling single-malt and most expensive whiskys. The company also owns several other liquor brands including Wood's 100 Old Navy rum, Reyka vodka, and Hendrick's gin. It sold its beer label, Innis & Gunn, in 2008. To read the full description, subscribe now.

    Competition

Competitive Landscape for William Grant & Sons Ltd.
Demand for wine is driven by the restaurant and hotel industries, the level of business entertainment spending, and consumer income. A winery's profitability depends on production volume and sales price, both of which can vary from year to year. Large companies have stronger distribution channels. There are large economies of scale in production. Small wineries can compete with big-volume producers by making higher-quality wines that sell at a premium price. To read the full description, subscribe now.
