Retail giant Wal-Mart Stores made its blanket coverage of North America complete with the 1994 acquisition of the 122-store Woolco division of Woolworth Canada. Like Wal-Mart de México, its sister-company south of the US-Mexico border, Wal-Mart Canada has since grown into a major retail force in its home country with more than 310 stores, including about 60 and supercenters (which sell groceries and genral merchandise under one huge roof), nationwide. Wal-Mart Canada's discount stores offer up to 80,000 products, including apparel, household goods, hardware, toys, sporting goods, health and beauty aids, food and other merchandise.
