This link will open in a new window "Hi-ho, the Valio" Valio is a farmer-owned dairy cooperative engaged in processing and marketing milk, dairy products, and other food products. Valio is owned by 28 dairy co-operatives made up of about 13,000 Finnish dairy farmers who produce milk for the company. Valio has 15 production plants in Finland, two in Estonia, and one in Belgium. It's subsidiary Finlandia Cheese imports and distributes Emmental cheese in the US. Seeking to lighten its load, Valio sold its ice cream business to Nestlé S.A. and its baby food operations to Numico (now part of Danone ).
