The Sun Products Corporation (formerly Huish Detergents) believes sunlight is truly the best disinfectant. The company makes laundry detergents and household cleaning products, such as floor and glass cleaners, oxygenated stain removers, prewash formulas, antibacterial soaps, bleach, and fabric softeners under the Sun brand name. It's also one of the largest US contract manufacturers of private-label brands for major retailers and makes personal care products under the White Rain brand. The company expanded in 2008 when its parent Vestar Capital Partners acquired Unilever's North American laundry brands (All, Wisk, Sunlight, Surf, and Snuggle) and merged the two businesses to form The Sun Products Corporation.  To read the full description, subscribe now.

    Competition

Competitive Landscape for The Sun Products Corporation
Population growth, particularly among households with children, drives demand in the consumer sector, and economic growth drives demand in the commercial sector. The profitability of individual companies depends on efficient operations and effective sales and marketing. Large companies have scale advantages in purchasing, manufacturing, distribution, and marketing. Small companies can compete effectively by offering specialized products, providing superior customer service, or serving a local market. The industry is capital-intensive: average annual revenue per worker is more than $1 million. The industry is about evenly split between the consumer and commercial segments. Both segments are highly competitive, and large companies spend millions to maintain market share. To read the full description, subscribe now.
