Established in 1982, the acute-care hospital now has about 250 beds, more than double its size when it opened. South Austin Medical Center (also known as South Austin Hospital) has a cardiovascular center, an emergency department, and an outpatient surgery center, along with services in diabetes education, nutrition, oncology, and pain management, among other offerings.
