Orbital is going from Down Under to all over the world with its direct-injection engine technology for automobiles, boats, and motorcycles. The technology, known as the Orbital Combustion Process (OCP), is used in engines to reduce fuel consumption and emissions output. Orbital is pushing licensing as a way to establish OCP as a commercially viable product. Although the company is more successful at getting its engine technology into motorcycles and watercraft, it does sell license agreements to vehicle and engine makers, including Mercury Marine. Orbital also earns revenues from royalties and from prototype and component manufacturing. The Asia/Pacific region generates about three-quarters of Orbital's sales. To read the full description, subscribe now.
