Newport helps all sorts of customers take a measured approach. The company makes lasers, precision components, and automated assembly, measurement, and test equipment. It makes some 15,000 products, which are used around the world in fields such as scientific research, life science, aerospace and defense, fiber-optic communications, health care, and semiconductor manufacturing. Industrial and scientific components, including lenses and other devices for vibration and motion control, account for more than half of sales. Newport also offers automated systems used to make fiber-optic components and photonics.
