Newmont Australia accounts for almost a quarter of both Newmont Mining's sales and reserves. The unit was brought under the Newmont umbrella with the 2002 acquisition of Normandy Mining. It also had a zinc and copper production facility but sold its Golden Grove operations, located in Western Australia's Outback, to Oxiana for just over $200 million.
