Being #2 means Poland's biggest alternative telecommunications provider Netia has to try harder. As the largest competitor to state-controlled heavyweight Telekomunikacja Polska (TPSA), Netia operates fixed-line local phone networks in 24 Polish territories, and it has begun offering domestic long-distance services in competition with TPSA. It has more than 400,000 voice lines in service; this includes computer telephony and wireless broadband callers. It also has more than 200,000 broadband customers. Netia's more than 5,000-kilometer fiber-optic backbone links six of Poland's largest cities, including Krakow and Warsaw.
