The National Maritime Museum maintains a collection of exhibits illustrating and preserving the water-related history of the UK. Its collection includes more than two million items, such as historic photographs, manuscripts, maps and charts, ship plans, and uniforms. The museum also maintains the Queen's House in Greenwich and the famous Royal Observatory, also in Greenwich (home of Greenwich Mean Time). The National Maritime Museum was established by Act of Parliament in 1934, opened three years later, and is run as a non-profit entity. To read the full description, subscribe now.
