This link will open in a new window Nanosphere is offering molecular diagnostics for the masses: Its molecular testing system is intended for the bulk of US hospitals that don't have the money or expertise to maintain the complex genomic testing equipment often reserved for reference labs and research centers. Known as Verigene, the company's diagnostic system is a more compact and simpler workstation that is designed to perform multiple genomic and protein tests simultaneously on a single sample. The company also sells Verigene-compatable tests, including hematology, cystic fibrosis, and influenza diagnostic assays. Nanosphere has several other tests, including HPV (the virus that causes cervical cancer) and herpes simplex assays, in the works.
