Homestead Technologies offers its members services and tools to build their own Web sites. Its drag-and-drop authoring software (SiteBuilder) allows small business owners, non-profit administrators, retailers, and hobbyists to create Web pages without knowledge of HTML coding. In 2003 the firm launched PhotoSite, for posting photos on the Web. Homestead sold PhotoSite in 2005 to United Online for about $10 million in cash. The company was acquired by Intuit in 2007.
