The entertainment retailer sells recorded music, videos and DVDs, books, and electronic games online and through some 380 HMV record stores in five countries and from about 310 Waterstone's bookshops in the UK and Ireland. HMV is taking advantage of new methods of delivering music and books electronically, including Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) portals and digital delivery of music online and via in-store kiosks. The struggling music retailer is closing stores following a prolonged slump in sales caused by upheaval in the music business.
