General Motors of Canada is that country's #1 assembler of cars, trucks, engines, and components. However, the company exports the bulk of its vehicles to the US. GM Canada produces such models as the Chevrolet Impala, Buick Allure, and Chevy Silverado. It also manufactures transmissions and other powertrain parts. The company has some 700 dealerships and retailers across the country. In light of the automotive industry downturn, GM Canada is drastically restructuring. It currently operates six factories in Ontario; in 2009 the company closed its truck plant in Oshawa and plans to close a transmission facility in Windsor in 2010. To read the full description, subscribe now.
