For dinner or dessert, Federico Paternina fills the glass. The company produces and distributes wine from Spain's famed La Rioja region. Its labels include Banda Azul, Clos, Conde de los Andes, and Monte Haro. Though wine provides a great majority of the company's sales, Paternina also produces brandy and sherry. Paternina sells worldwide, but Spain accounts for most of its revenues. The Eguizábal family bought the seized Federico Paternina vineyards in an auction (from the Spanish government) for a single peseta in 1984. Chairman Marcos Eguizábal Ramirez owns more than 80% of the company. Founded in 1896, the winery uses cellars dating back to the 1500s. To read the full description, subscribe now.
