Exxaro Resources is aiming to be a top dog in coal and zinc production in South Africa. The mining company, which resulted from Kumba Resources' merger with Eyesizwe Coal in late 2006, is positioning itself for both domestic and international growth in coal and zinc, as well as titanium dioxide feedstock and zircon. In addition to a number of South African coal mines that produce steam and coking coal for the metals and utilities markets, Exxaro has mineral sands and base metals production operations and interests in Namibia, Australia, and China.
