Formed by the merger of Conoco and Phillips Petroleum, ConocoPhillips is the #2 integrated oil and gas company in the US, behind Exxon Mobil, and consolidated that position by buying Burlington Resources (for a reported $35 billion). The company explores for oil and gas in more than 30 countries and has proved reserves of 10 billion barrels of oil equivalent (excluding its Syncrude oil sands assets).
