What could be a more lofty goal than keeping college students connected through humor? Connected Ventures owns and operates CollegeHumor.com, which was co-founded in 1999 by then college students Josh Abramson (University of Richmond) and Ricky Van Veen (Wake Forest) as a place to post pictures of themselves. CollegeHumor.com earns most of its revenues from the sale of T-shirts that say things like "My other shirt has its collar up" and "What Would Ashton Do?" Connected Ventures has grown to include a handful of additional sites, including Crazewire.com (forum for music writers), and Vimeo.com (video file sharing). In 2006 IAC/InterActiveCorp acquired a 51% stake and full voting control of Connected Ventures. To read the full description, subscribe now.
