It offers about 170 undergraduate majors, more than 75 master's degree programs, and about a dozen each of certificate, preprofessional, and doctoral degree programs. Begun as a private teacher's college in 1899, Ball St. became a university in 1965. It still has a Teachers College, as well as colleges of applied sciences and technology; architecture and planning; business; communication, information, and media; fine arts; and sciences and humanities.
