The company's digital network of local and long-distance phone, Internet, and Web hosting services is offered to residential and commercial customers, as well as the government. Its long-distance phone system is spread across 200 cities in Mexico, and 51 of those have advanced voice, data, and Internet service. Axtel acquired Avantel in 2006 for about $520 million and is now Mexico's second-largest fixed-line integrated telecommunications company. The company joined the Mexican Stock Exchange in February 2008.
