Old McDonald was probably a member of AFT. The not-for-profit American Farmland Trust seeks to protect farmland in the US by working with farmers, environmentalists, and government agencies to promote sound farming practices, encourage agriculturally-minded community planning, and secure public funds for conservation. Its Farmland Information Center produces analyses and studies while the Center for Agriculture in the Environment looks for environmentally friendly farming practices. It also offers consulting services and gives a $10,000 Steward of the Land prize to one of its 40,000 members each year. AFT was founded in 1980 by farmers and conservationists worried about the loss of farmland to development. To read the full description, subscribe now.
