Ruling over a kingdom of some 500 locations in 22 states, it's one of the largest providers of secured, non-recourse loans (known as pawn loans) in the nation. It operates through Cash America Pawn and SuperPawn shops; customers collateralize high-interest loans with jewelry, electronics, and other items. If the loans aren't repaid, the firm sells the collateral in its stores. Cash America also offers cash advances, check cashing, and money orders and transfers through stores operating as Cashland Financial Services and Cash America Payday Advance. Check cashing services are offered through about 130 owned and franchised Mr. Payroll stores.
