Hoover's Online Wins Three Awards From Top Publications
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
- Receives Revolution Award; Selected As Top Site By Entrepreneur And PC Magazine -
AUSTIN, TEXAS - May 7, 2001 - For Hoover's Online (www.hoovers.com), the premier online information resource for businesspeople, kudos are coming in threes. Operated by Hoover's, Inc. (Nasdaq: HOOV), a leading provider of online business information, tools, and content integration and syndication technology, Hoover's Online today announced its receipt of a Revolution Award from Revolution magazine, as well as its recent selection as a Top Web Site by both PC Magazine and, for the second year running, Entrepreneur magazine.
Hoover's Online beat five other semi-finalists, including the Los Angeles Times' site (latimes.com) and RedHerring.com, to win the Revolution Award for Best Online Content Site. The Revolution Awards, announced in April, recognize the success of companies and individuals who have achieved excellence in their use of digital channels for business and marketing. A distinguished panel of industry experts judged all entries on their effectiveness, design, creativity, innovation and delivery of business results.
"There are a number of Internet destinations that specialize in business content, but no site offers the amount of content and overall depth of resource as Hoover's Online," said Vicky Browning, publishing director of Revolution. "Hoover's has proven that it can build a sustainable business. The growth of the company's subscription and content licensing revenues shows Hoover's strategy has paid off well."
In March, the editors of PC Magazine chose Hoover's Online as one of their favorites - a Top 100 Web Site, based on design, performance, security and usability. PC Magazine says Hoover's Online was selected "from those that we think break new ground in their categories, serve their audiences' needs, offer a service no one else does or better than all their competitors do, and those that we return to often and find ourselves unable to leave."
For the second year in a row, in April Entrepreneur magazine named Hoover's Online as one of its Top 100 Web Sites in the competitive intelligence category. Entrepreneur includes Hoover's Online among its picks that "will make you money, save you time and help you run your business smarter."
"We are thrilled to earn such accolades from these well-respected publications, as it validates not only our successful business model, but also our ability to help businesspeople get their jobs done," said Jani Farlow Spede, senior vice president and publisher of Hoover's Online. "We couldn't have earned these awards without the contributions of our outstanding group of employees."
