Hoover's API -- The Fastest Path To Innovation

Hoover's Brand Guidelines

Applying and Using the Hoover's Identity

The Hoover's API is provided to enhance your user experience. As you develop, we ask that you be mindful of the Hoover's brand and require that you follow these guidelines.

Acknowledgement

All Hoover's information that is delivered through the API must be cited or sourced by using the "Powered by Hoover's" logo provided below. This includes any displayed company, industry or people information as well as features and functionality that can be pulled from the API.

Links and Logos

  • The "Powered by Hoover's" logo should always be linked back to www.hoovers.com. The purpose of the link is to cite Hoover's as the source of information that is being delivered by the Hoover's API.
  • The "Powered by Hoover's" logo is one of the most important components of our brand identity. Its function is to not only identify our organization but to stand out within our industry.
  • The "Powered by Hoover's" logo is comprised of four elements: The "Powered By" standalone text, the logotype or customized rendering of the "Hoover's" letters, the ™ trademark symbol and the phrase "A D&B Company." If Hoover's data is used to create a visual representation of Hoover's information, a Hoover's logo needs to be present within or adjacent to the representation. Logos can not be reduced in size. It's up to the discretion of the publisher where to specifically place the logo within or adjacent to the representation.

Clear Space

A clear area around the Logo is required to prevent any nearby text, imagery or other graphics from diluting the integrity and clarity of the Logo. Please refer to the specifications below to ensure the legibility of the logo in both printed and online applications.

  • The minimum clear space is one-half the height of the "H" in the Hoover's logotype.

(Please note: The gray "H" letterforms and the blue lines are shown for illustration purposes only and should never be reproduced.)

Minimum Size

Minimum Logo size is based on the width of the bottom bar in the Hoover's logo. Please refer to the size specifications below to ensure the proper staging and legibility of the logo and phrase in both online and printed applications.

Online Applications

  • 145 px wide for horizontal version. This is to ensure that the "Hoover's" portion of the logo is at least 69 px wide, which is the minimum for readability of that area.

Publicizing Use of Hoover's API

  • Per D&B policy, any customer-issued press releases that mention the integration of Hoover's data via the Hoover's API must go through a customary press release review/approval process, which includes full review by both Hoover's and D&B senior management. Each press release will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Please send any press release drafts to Lisa Glass, PR Manager for Hoover's, and allow at least 7 working days for the review process.
  • Further, in any outward-facing communications about the integration of Hoover's data via the Hoover's API, customers cannot in any way refer to their relationship with Hoover's as a "partnership," as the word "partnership" is defined by very specific legal terms. As an alternative, customers can, for example, use language such as "teams," "joins," "relationship," "agreement," or "alliance."
