Boyd Gaming Company Description
A key ingredient for Boyd Gaming's success is -- or was -- stardust. One of the country's leading casino operators, Boyd demolished the iconic Stardust Resort and Casino on the Las Vegas Strip to make way for a new development, Echelon Place. Boyd has some 15 properties, which include locations in Las Vegas, as well as in Florida, Indiana, Illinois, Louisiana, and Mississippi; together they have some 22,000 slot machines and 450 table games. Boyd also owns 50% of Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel Casino with MGM MIRAGE. Boyd's significant $1.3 billion purchase of Coast Casinos in 2004 created the fifth-largest gaming company in the US. Chairman William S. Boyd and his family own more than 35% of Boyd Gaming.
