With tools from BioTrove, researchers can mine the treasure trove of information encoded in genetic material...and still make it home in time for dinner. The company makes life science research systems that allow scientists to rapidly prepare and test multiple genetic samples at once. BioTrove's OpenArray system, for example, can perform more than 3,000 genetic tests simultaneously on a single slide. Its RapidFire product line provides automated sample preparation for mass spectrometry testing, a technology used to screen potential drug compounds and their effects on disease targets. BioTrove also offers its RapidFire high-throughput screening as a service. The company filed to go public in 2008.
