All amped up to make some financial noise, Ampco-Pittsburgh, operating in two business units, manufactures a variety of metal products. Its forged and cast steel rolls unit (Union Electric Steel, Davy Roll Co.) makes hardened-steel rolls for the steel and aluminum industries. The air and liquid processing segment includes Buffalo Pumps (centrifugal pumps for the refrigeration, marine defense, and power generation industries); Aerofin (finned-tube heat-exchange coils used in the construction and utility industries); and Buffalo Air Handling (custom air-handling systems used in commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings). Chairman Louis Berkman owns 16% of the company.
