Aleris International Company Description
Aleris International was formed in 2004 when aluminum recycler IMCO Recycling bought Commonwealth Industries. It got a lot bigger with the 2006 acquisition of Corus Group's downstream aluminum operations and has continued to grow through acquisitions. Its rolled and extruded products unit makes alloy aluminum sheet from recycled metal as well as extruded profiles for the construction and engineering markets. Aleris' recycling unit processes recycled aluminum (beverage cans and scrap) and metal alloys (aluminum scrap and other metals). It operates in China, the Americas, and throughout Europe. In 2006 Texas Pacific Group acquired Aleris for about $3.5 billion in cash and assumed debt.
