Airbus Company Description

Dare you imagine 550-800 people in one airplane? Airbus, which vies with Boeing to be the world's #1 commercial aircraft maker, is betting that airlines will love its huge double-decker A380 (first flight completed in 2005; first plane delivered in 2007) for hub airports. Airbus' planes include single-aisle (A318, A319, A320, A321) and wide-body (A300, A310, A330, A340) models with capacities ranging from about 110 to 400 passengers. Airbus has also announced that it will build a new mid-sized plane, the A350. Due out in 2010 and based on the A330 platform, the A350 will compete directly against Boeing's upcoming 787 Dreamliner. EADS owns Airbus; UK-based BAE SYSTEMS sold its 20% stake back to EADS in 2006.
