Almodovar, who in the year 2000 won with "Todo Sobre Mi Madre" the Oscar that he will confer next March 7, has not been designated for this edition by the Spanish film academy to represent his country with "Los Abrazos Rotos." Instead Fernando Trueba will be the candidate with "El Baile de la Victoria".

    Nov. 17--The next Oscar ceremony is not until March 7, and the nominees won't be announced until February; yet the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has already awarded the first four statuettes of the year.     U.S. actress Anjelica Huston said fellow film star Lauren Bacall deserved to be among those honored by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Houston praised Bacall, 85, while presenting the "To Have and To Have Not" star with an honorary award at Saturday's 2009 Governors Awards, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday. "Lauren Bacall defines what it means to be an actress," Huston said.
